Tigo Ghana might be on the way to be acquired by the Orange group, as reported by Ghanaian media outlets. Earlier reports indicated that Tigo might be in discussions with its rival Airtel Ghana for a merger.

Tigo and Airtel respectively accounted for 14.5% and 12.1% of Ghana’s total mobile user base as at 30 September 2016, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Databas . That implies, a merger of the two will create an entity that can replace Vodafone Ghana (21.9%) as the second largest mobile operator in Ghana, behind market leader MTN Ghana (48.6%).
