Swedish vendor Ericsson has completed the acquisition of an M2M communication technology platform from Telenor Connexion, a subsidiary of Norwegian telco, Telenor.

The acquisition is in line with Ericsson's aim to become a leading player in M2M communication technology.

The acquisition includes the transfer of 10 Telenor Connexion employees who will work on the development of Ericsson's M2M service, the Device Connection Platform, which offers telecom operators a way to set up tailored M2M services for enterprise customers.

Magnus Furustam, vice president, head of core and IMS at Ericsson, said: “We are happy to welcome the employees today working with Telenor Connexion's M2M technology platform. They are together with the technology platform important to us as our ambition is to grow the M2M market, offering our customers a solution that they can quickly use on the market for a low initial investment.”
