Kuwaiti ISP Fasttelco has bought capacity from Gulf Bridge International (GBI), a regional cable operator.

The agreement will provide Fasttelco with connectivity on routes in the Gulf and to Europe, giving greater resilience to its traffic.

Abdul-Wahab Al-Naqeeb, CEO of Fasttelco, said: “Our aim is to differentiate ourselves among all local operators and further expand our operations beyond Kuwaiti borders.”

GBI’s cable system is due to start operations by the end of the year. It will connect to all the Gulf countries and provide onward connectivity to Europe and Asia, and is designed to operate for up to 25 years.

This contract is GBI’s first deal in Kuwait.
