Saudi Arabia’s STC Group has earned recognition from the GSMA after launching LTE services across its Middle East operations in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait, according to the telco’s group CEO, Saud bin Majed Al-Daweesh.

The operator pointed to an official confirmation made by the GSMA, which stated that STC Group was the first operator in the region to launch LTE in multiple countries in the Middle East.

STC launched its LTE network in KSA in mid-September. Viva Kuwait said that it had become Kuwait’s first LTE operator on December 21, while Viva Bahrain launched LTE in Bahrain City Centre on January 1, 2011.
