Jordanian telecom operator Umniah has launched a web portal that offers subscribers access to services including data storage, instant messaging and video calls.
The portal, which called Umniahlive.net, allows users to organise their email inboxes and access their Microsoft Office files via their Internet browser. The service also offers 25GB of online storage, allowing users to share files, upload and share videos and create, read and edit documents by dragging them from the desktop and dropping them onto their Internet browsers.
Umniahlive.net includes a video chat service and integrates with social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Umniahlive.net services, along with various Microsoft applications and internet services, are available through Umniah’s strategic partnership agreement with Microsoft Jordan.
Ihab Hinnawi, CEO, Umniah, said that Jordan’s internet usage rate stands at 40% while “social media engagement levels” in the country have reached 20%.
“We are proud to partner with Microsoft Jordan and we are pleased to provide all Umniah subscribers with top-of-the-line value-added services that facilitate their daily online activities,” Hinnawi said.
Maher Al-Khaiyat, commercial sector lead at Microsoft Jordan, said: "The latest generation of Windows Live is great for handling and storing information. With Umniah’s co-branded Windows Live ID, end-users can receive easy access to all their emails, contacts, calendars, social networks and media content.”
Unmiah subscribers can activate the service by dialing *100# or by visiting the web portal at: www.umniahlive.net.
