The Angry Birds fever shows no signs of waning, and the latest release of the mobile gaming series has everyone flinging fuming birds in a frenzy.

Angry Birds Space has crossed a record breaking 50 million downloads in only 35 days since it hit various app stores. This breaks its own title, Angry Birds Rio, and makes the app the fastest growing mobile gaming app ever.

Rovio, the makers of the Angry Birds series have issued a statement on their website saying: “Angry Birds Space hit 50 million downloads within 35 days, making it the fastest growing mobile game yet and breaking all our previous records. This has been simply amazing, and the whole Rovio team is thrilled to see such a fantastic reception for the game.”

The statement continued: “While numbers like this certainly say something about the popularity of Angry Birds, for us the main goal is to keep creating fun new experiences that everybody can enjoy! We just launched the first free update for Angry Birds Space, with plenty more surprises in stock.”

Rovio has just released 10 new levels of Angry Birds Space, for iOS and Android gamers. So keep hurling those birds.
