Omani telco Nawras has hired Huawei to upgrade its network and managed its fixed and mobile networks.

Huawei will provide Nawras’ Radio Access Network (RAN) and undertake a modernisation of the RAN so that it can accommodate further developments including LTE.

On another note, the parties intend to sign an agreement covering managed services for its fixed and mobile networks to increase efficiency. Nawras’ customers will benefit from better service speed and quality, the telco said in a statement.

Capital expenditure on the upgraded radio network and related transmission equipment is anticipated to amount to a total investment of high double-digit million Omani Rials over the next three years.

Huawei has built commercialised LTE networks for many of the world’s leading telcos.
