UK mobile group Vodafone has confirmed that it is in “advanced discussions” to sell its 45% interest in Verizon Wireless for US$130 billion.

Vodafone, which plans to sell the stake to Verizon Wireless, said last week that it expected to confirm the sale on Monday September 2.
The consideration would comprise a mixture of Verizon common stock and cash, Vodafone said.

Verizon’s board is due to meet on Monday morning to gain final approval for the deal.

If the deal is completed, it will be the third biggest M&A transaction of all time.
