UAE telecom operator Du doubled its 4G footprint and backhaul capacity in 2013, according to figures released by the telco.

The release of key figures comes as the telco continues to invest in its indoor coverage solutions and network features that enable more users on its network without performance degradation.

"Telecom customers are increasingly becoming data-savvy and an integral part of their lifestyle is our world-class 4G LTE network - it is at the heart of what we do," said Saleem Albalooshi, executive vice president, Network Development and Operations, Du.

"Speed, high quality, and reliability are three virtues that we believe in when it comes to network coverage. The constant need to be in a converged environment - whether, it's keeping in touch with near and dear ones, or having work-related information at [your] fingertips is not [optional] - it's critical. And our team is always working [towards providing] a superb user experience."

Du is also expanding its 3G network capacity by deploying a third carrier and has also added HD (high-definition) voice to its portfolio.
