CommsMEA: Tell me about IPT PowerTech. What does the company do?

IPT Powertech Group was established in 1993, headquartered in Beirut, and is managed by our CEO Mr. Nabil Haddad. We specialise in power solutions and infrastructure for industries including telecoms, oil and gas, and electricity production.

We are now operating in 15 countries around the world in the Middle East and Africa including subsidiaries in Iraq, Yemen, Syria, KSA Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, Algeria, and Morocco. We serve more than 80 operators and vendors in more than 40 countries. We have more than 1500 employees. We own Stratum Enclosures in Romania for manufacturing outdoor cabinets.

CommsMEA: How is the company structured? What does the telecom side of the company do?

Our company is divided into two departments, mainly telecom and power. The telecom department is responsible for all telecom installations, commissioning and integration, facility and RAN optimisation, infrastructure work, site build, and full turnkey services.

On the power side, we do our own energy-efficient solutions combined with solar, hybrid and renewable energy solutions

CommsMEA: What are the best markets for you in MEA?

We have a lot of business in Iraq, Morocco, Nigeria and Ghana. We work with the telecom operators including Zain, MTN, VimpelCom, Orange, Ooredoo, Etisalat and STC, and for vendors such as Ericsson, Huawei, NSN, Alcatel-Lucent and ZTE. We also work with telecom infrastructure providers, American Tower, IHS and Helios Towers.

In terms of growth, last year our group turnover was $160 million and now we are on more than $220 million, so we’re growing dramatically.

Power accounts for 60% of the business. We have been providing solar solutions for about two years and have worked on more than 650 sites by now.

CommsMEA: Tell me about your telecoms consulting services?

IPT Powertech offers complete professional, independent and objective consultancy services for telecom infrastructures. Our independent and objective consulting recommendations are based solely on client requirements and expectations in terms of network element down time and availability in relation with the infrastructure reliability.

Our consultancy services cover the entire infrastructure needs of any network elements providing recommendation on towers, shelters, outdoor cabinets, cooling components, batteries, AC & DC power systems, grounding networks, electrical components and protection, and sites construction.
