Anders Lindblad, current President of Ericsson Region Middle East, is being appointed senior vice president and head of Business Unit Cloud & IP, effective from 1st July.

The company has also announced the appointment of Arun Bansal, currently head of Ericsson’s region South East Asia & Oceania, as senior vice president and head of Business Unit Radio.

The newly-created Business Unit Cloud & IP and Business Unit Radio divisions were formed by a split of the current business unit Networks, in a move to accelerate transformation and support growth.

“Virtualization and cloud will fundamentally change the networks and ultimately the industry. Our leading position in core networks will enable us to also become a significant player in cloud and IP. I am excited to get the opportunity to lead this strategically important work in a transforming market,” Lindblad said.

Hans Vestberg, president and CEO of Ericsson, said, “Both Anders and Arun are strong leaders with experience from large organisations. […] We are committed to maintaining our leadership in radio technology while also building a strong position in the cloud and IP space as the market evolves to 5G. I am confident they have the right backgrounds and experience to lead the two new business units with their different business logics and growth opportunities.”

Anders Lindblad and Arun Bansal will remain members of Ericsson’s Global Leadership Team. Successors to them in their current roles will be announced separately, stated Ericsson. The two new organisations will become operational at start of July.
