The Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates established its direct data communication link with the Federal Electronic Network (FEDnet), one of the initiatives falling under the mGovernment transformation roadmap.
H. E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, director general at the UAE TRA explained: “One of the main value propositions of FEDnet is to enable G2G connectivity among all government entities. One connection to FEDnet will enable access to all government entities. This is more efficient compared to the direct one-to-one connectivity between one entity and another. Furthermore, FEDnet will provide the entities access to pool of compute and storage resources, Infrastructure as a Service, aimed to enable the government entities develop their Government to Consumer and Government to Business services.”
“We have several government entities linked to FEDnet today including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Interior. Additionally, FEDnet includes links to the National Electronic Security Authority and Emirates Identity Authority, and are coordinating with several other government agencies at a local and federal level to connect them with the network through soon." he added.
“This project comes in accordance with the wise directives of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who expressed the importance of providing high-quality services to transform the process from customer satisfaction to customer happiness. Happier customers is the ultimate goal for each of our initiatives at TRA, and is the mechanism for implementing strategies to transform to mGovernment. Accordingly, the mGovernment supreme committee and the TRA management consider FEDnet as one of the most important projects today.” said Al Mansoori.
