UAE TRA organises meeting on radio frequency coordination

The UAE General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector (TRA) hosted the first national committee meeting for radio frequencies and wireless wave signals at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The committee included representative members from the UAE Armed Forces, the Ministry of Interior, State Security Services, National Media Council, in addition to the participation of relevant telecommunications entities.

The meeting reviewed the national plan for frequency allocations in order to modernise them according to the latest developments and innovations in the global telecommunications sector as well as the expected growth needs for the sector at the national level, stated the UAE TRA.

“This cooperation and coordination between the various stakeholders and teams at the national level is the means towards continued success achieved by the UAE in various capacities within the ICT sector. Our meeting today comes as part of the spectrum deterioration topic and the distribution of broadcast packets. The aim is to exchange ideas and suggestions to develop a clear vision for the future distribution of these bundles in light of the rapid developments taking place in the telecommunications sector globally, “said Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, deputy director general of telecommunication sector, committee member.

“During the meeting, we adopted an action plan that included our future participation in the World Radio communication Conferences (WRC) 2015 as well as the steps needed to update the national radio spectrum plan in light of the upcoming conference. It will all be in line with the needs of the telecommunications sectors at the national level and based on the role that the sector plays in the wider context of economic development goals,” he added.
