Batelco and Huawei complete speed trial of 40G TWDM PON

Technology provides up to 40Gbps speed to deliver ultra-broadband

Batelco and Huawei have completed a speed trial of 40G TWDM PON (Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexing Passive Optic Network) technology which provides up to 40Gbps speed to deliver ultra-broadband, future cloud and ICT solution, future IPTV, voice over IP and digital services.

According to the operator, Batelco is first in Bahrain to trial this technology on its network.

The new 40G technology will enable Batelco to maintain a platform that is able to support the delivery of next generation, cutting-edge consumer and enterprise communication services at affordable prices, states the company.

Muna Al Hashemi, CEO at Batelco Bahrain, said that the operator is delighted with the success of the 40Gbps trial in cooperation with Huawei, one of their foremost strategic partners for many years.
