UAE's Du hires MediaTek for LTE project

UAE telco Du has hired telecoms tech firm MediaTek to cooperate on the deployment, testing and validation of next generation technologies in LTE, LTE-Advanced, LTE-Advanced Pro and high definition voice services such as VoIP over LTE and Wi-Fi.

The cooperation was agreed under a general Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) where both companies will also exchange information and ideas towards the advanced technologies in 5G and Internet of things (IoT).

MediaTek’s range of devices and solutions will help to improve Du’s customer satisfaction and provide a new range of devices supporting the latest technologies.

Du will use MediaTek’s modem technology solutions to test, validate, and troubleshoot mobile device and benchmark performance in lab and field based environments to ensure seamless and fast time-to-market of new devices and technologies.

Saleem AlBlooshi, executive vice president of network development and operations at du, said: “Bridging the gap between terminals and network is our aim to offer seamless experience to our customers. Also, the cooperation in 5G and IoT development is another aim to realise our leaders’ vision to build the smartest city and to be on the top of technology evolution.”

Cooperation with Du allows MediaTek to continue empowering end-users with the latest technologies and showcase our extensive experience in developing chipsets with fast time-to-market.”
