Huawei has announced the appointment of Alaa Elshimy in the role of managing director and vice president for Huawei enterprise business group in the Middle East.

Elshimy will be responsible for overseeing Huawei's continued growth in the region following its unprecedented performance in 2015.

Terry He, president of Huawei enterprise Middle East, said: "We are pleased to welcome Elshimy to the Huawei leadership team as a seasoned business leader who brings a wealth of ICT expertise to the Enterprise Business Group (EBG) along with more than 25 years of ICT management capability in banking, oil and gas, telecom and smart government sectors.

"Huawei's rapid growth in the region fuelled by demand for new ICT solutions calls for strong ICT leadership skills which Huawei found in Elshimy's impressive background and history of achievements."

Elshimy added: "Huawei is experiencing tremendous growth thanks to its customer-centricity and commitment to developing new ICT solutions through leading innovation that stems from its R&D-driven culture."

Elshimy has experience in the regional ICT sector with a career that spans more than 25 years of which the last 16 years were with HP, where he was managing director and vice president of HP Enterprise Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa, where he led the management team to drive growth for HP.

Huawei's Enterprise business continues to grow rapidly in the Middle East and is a strategic market for Huawei worldwide covering nine countries across the region.
