CommsMEA Awards 2016 celebrates innovation and excellence

The 11th edition of the awards celebrated ICT success stories across the MEA region

The success stories in the MEA region in the field of communications technology were celebrated and awarded at the 11th edition of the CommsMEA Awards, which were presented in Dubai yesterday.

The awards were presented to operators, regulators and other technology and service providers in recognition of their achievements in ensuring that the Middle East and Africa region stays at the frontier of digital innovation.

Seventeen awards were presented at a gala dinner at the Conrad Hotel, Dubai, with around 200 ICT leaders and professionals in attendance. The 11th CommsMEA Awards attracted a strong field of nominations, reflecting the various ways communications technology is taking fast strides towards a complete revolution.

The winners of the CommsMEA Awards 2016 are:

Most innovative new service of the year- Huawei - MVNE

Business service award- Mahindra Comviva

Satellite Service of the year- Yahsat

IPTV service of the year- Ooredoo Qatar

Award for connecting the unconnected- Yahsat

Customer service provider of the year-STC

M2M solution of the year- Etisalat - M2M control centre

CSR campaign of the year- Ericsson, Asiacell, and IRC 

Marketing campaign of the year- Zain Iraq- Hassa Eliya (Now for Me) campaign

Telecoms technology investment of the year- Ooredoo Oman

Network optimisation award- Nokia and Ooredoo Qatar

Regulator of the year- The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (“TRA”)

Middle East mobile operator of the year- Etisalat

African mobile operator of the year-Safaricom

Overall operator of the year -Zain group

Editor's choice award for mission critical communication – Bravo

The annual CommsMEA Awards acknowledge operators and other technology providers who have taken a leadership role in the region’s fast growing and rapidly changing telecoms sector.

Most of all, the awards aim to recognise those organisations that have helped turn the communications sector in the Middle East and Africa into one of the most dynamic and vibrant in the world.
