Batelco is committed to supporting Bahrain government’s project to establish a National Broadband Network (NBN) using fibre technology, according to the telco’s chairman, Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

The NBN is intended to provide internet access speeds of at least 100 Mbps for up to 95% of homes in Bahrain and speeds of 1 Gbps for all government and businesses entities, Shaikh Mohamed said.

“This is in line with the government of Bahrain’s 4th National Telecom plan which was approved by the Council of Ministers headed by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister and led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister under the directive of the Kingdom’s leadership,” Shaikh Mohamed added.
