LinkedIn Lite makes professional networking independent of bandwidth

LinkedIn's new LinkedIn Lite mobile web and Android app is now available in more than 60 countries across the world including South Africa, the Philippines, India, Pakistan, Kenya, Turkey and many others. In the Middle East and North Africa markets, LinkedIn Lite will be available in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Nigeria and Tunisia.

LinkedIn Lite is designed for markets where bandwidth is a challenge. LinkedIn Lite is a lighter version that includes all key features such as news feed, profile, networks, messaging and notifications.

The Android app is less than one megabyte in size making it easier for members to connect to opportunity, on-the-go and in areas of low internet connectivity.

The catalyst for LinkedIn Lite was a field research trip about a year ago in Nashik, a small city about 100 miles from Mumbai where broadband challenges prevented page loading.
