Batelco has informed customers that its 2G network will be phased out by 31 December 2019, according to TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate

The company notes the move is intended to free up network capacity for the deployment of 5G mobile technology and enable it to meet the rapidly growing demands of its customers. All 2G device users have been urged to upgrade their devices and replace their SIM cards to support 3G/4G networks.
