The GSMA has announced STC as an official member of its NB-IoT Forum.

In a GSMA meeting at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), STC was welcomed as an official member in the global forum and standardisation body.

The NB-IoT Forum leads the industry and ecosystem to build end-end solutions. As part of its objectives, NB-IoT forum works towards facilitating the commercial launches of services based on NB-IoT, and drives the introduction of related applications. As part of its continued activities, this forum will ensure interoperability of the future solutions across many industry verticals.

This announcement places STC at the forefront of technology, and recognises its pioneering technological role across the globe. It also comes after STC was announced in November 2018 as a member of the GSMA's board - joining the top 25 mobile operators in the world.

The NB-IoT forum announcement was just one of many big announcements for STC at MWC. The company also announced major deals with Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia, Korea Telecom (KT) and more, for everything from 5G rollout to technological collaboration.

Aside from being the site of a number of important announcements and welcoming visitors by showcasing some of the world's latest technologies and innovations, the STC stand in Hall 2 also received a very important visitor in the form of HE Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Arabia's Minister for Communications & IT.

During a visit to the STC stand, the minister said STC is one of the most important partnetrs in building the kingdom's digital economy.
