Amazon wants to launch satellites. A lot of satellites.

Amazon has asked the US FCC (Federal Communications Commission) for permission to launch up to 3,236 satellites as part of Project Kuiper.

Grouped into 98 orbital planes, the satellites would flaot several hundred kilometres above Earth, and use Ka-band frequencies to provide satellite Internet and other services.
