Internet services have been down in the African nation of Ethiopia for more than a week.

Access to social media platforms like Whatsapp and Telegram have reportedly been restricted since June 11.

Ethiopians have been getting around the blocks by using VPNs.

No official explanation has been given, but some Ethiopians have suggested the blocks could be to curtail cheating by secondary students who are currently sitting for national examinations.
