Coming soon to Oman: 5G

5G is coming to Oman.

The Gulf nation’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has formed a national-level team – which includes members from the TRA and mobile network operators in the Sultanate – to develop a 5G strategy, including how to tackle challenges that could arise during the roll-out.

There are also plans for a 5G congress to be held later this year in the capital of Muscat.

Oman’s 5G plans follow the United Arab Emirates, where a number of steps are being taken to roll-out 5G. Etisalat and du are currently preparing to make 5G widely available to consumers. Also, Etisalat has announced 5G will be available to Expo 2020 attendees when the exhibition opens in Dubai in two years.
