At the recently concluded Huawei Developers Conference, EMUI 10 was officially released. According to Dr. Wang Chenglu, the president of the software engineering department at Huawei, EMUI10 is pioneering distributed technology applications for providing an all-scenario experience.

Currently, Huawei's EMUI has more than 500 million DAUs in 216 countries, supporting 77 languages. Technological iterations have been made since the birth of EMUI1.0 in 2012. In recent years, Huawei has invested heavily in EMUI R&D to continuously boost system performance whether it is GPU Turbo technology to improve the efficiency of graphics processing or Link Turbo for a smartphone to access multiple networks such as 4G and WiFi. EMUI10 brings updates to UX design, an all-scenario ultimate experience and a new standard of smooth operation.

By adopting revolutionary distributed technology, EMUI10 enables a seamless experience. To implement this, the hardware capabilities of devices are required to be virtualised, allowing for a shared resource pool. However, the improvement in product experience also accompanies a fortification in security. Only devices authenticated by the user can be connected to other devices and the communication between these devices is end-to-end encrypted.

With diversified smart devices, EMUI10 uses a distributed UI programming framework and as mentioned earlier, virtualises hardware capabilities. This means developers can create apps for multiple devices without needing to make adaptations for the same program.

Over the past years, the number of Huawei mobile phone users has increased significantly. And EMUI will provide more applications and synergised cross-device experiences for users. It will continue to make the capabilities of tools and platforms such as Ark Compiler and Huawei DevEco Studio more open and work with developers and industry partners to jointly create innovative experiences across all scenarios.

The Huawei P30 series will be the first to upgrade to EMUI10 beta version for internal testing on 8 September and will be available for the Mate series later on. Dr. Wang Chenglu also alluded that EMUI10 will be firstly launched in the next generation of the Mate series.
